Description:

Heat shock protein beta-6 (HSPB6) is a member of the small heat shock protein (HSP20) family which functions as a molecular chaperone maintaining denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. HSPB6 plays a role in smooth muscle vasorelaxation and cardiac myocyte contractility. Overexpression mediates cardioprotection and angiogenesis after induced damage. Among the conditions associated with HSPB6 are cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
