Description:
Human protein C is prepared from fresh frozen human plasma using a combination of salt precipitations and column chromatography. Protein C is activated to the serine protease Activated Protein C (APC) by alpha-thrombin or the complex of alpha-thrombin/thrombomodulin. APC is a potent anticoagulant through the selective inactivation of Factors Va and VIIIa.
