Description:

This High Purity Bovine Thrombin product is used to cleave r-fusion proteins containing a thrombin cleavage site (e.g., Leu-Val-Pro-Arg-ll-Gly-Ser) for removal of affinity tags as well as certain diagnostic pharmaceutical applications.

Coagulation Factor 2 (F2) prothrombin, is proteolytically cleaved to form Thrombin (activated Factor II) in the first step of the Coagulation Cascade. Thrombin is a serine protease that converts Fibrinogen, a soluble plasma glycoprotein, to an insoluble protein gel called fibrin, the essential component of the blood clot. to Fibrin, thereby playing a key role in blood clot formation.
