Description:

The monoclonal antibody recognizes human Procalcitonin (PCT), a 116 amino acid precursor of the hormone calcitonin. Procalcitonin arises from endopeptidase-cleaved preprocalcitonin. It undergoes successive cleavages in the neuroendocrine cells of the thyroid to form three distinct molecules: calcitonin (32 amino acids); C-terminal fragment katacalcin (21 amino acids) and N-terminal fragment, aminoprocalcitonin (57 amino acids).
