The monoclonal antibody recognizes human desmin, a muscle-specific class III intermediate filament. Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intra-cytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane.
No detectable cross-reactivity with GFAP, Keratin, Vimentin, or Neurofilament.
Western blot: a preparation of leiomyoma cells is recommended for positive control.
IHC/ IF: For staining muscle cells in human tissues dilute the antibody approximately 1:100, preferably in PBS Frozen sections show excellent staining in IHC/ IF, while staining is somewhat reduced on sections of formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue. Positive Controls: Skeletal muscle, rhabdomyosarcomas, and leiomyoma cells.
The optimal concentration should be determined by the user for each specific application.
