Description:

Cord blood remains in the blood vessels of the placenta and in the attached umbilical cord after childbirth. Cord blood is rich in hematopoietic stem / progenitor cells while it contains all the usual components of blood (red blood cells, platelets, white blood cells, and plasma). Serum is separated from clotted cord blood, pooled from 3 or more donors and frozen.
